Reasons to Eat Seafood

Seafood Have you ever been staring at a menu, wondering what to order, thinking you should probably get something that’s good for your body but also tastes great too? Are you tired of cooking the same old thing for dinner? Well, if you’re ever looking to make a healthy impact on your diet, consider adding some more fish into the mix. Whether you’re dining our or cooking at home, seafood can have many health benefits and positive impacts on your body and your life. Here are just a few of our favorite reasons to eat more seafood!

Eating Well says that we should all already be trying to eat fish at least two times a week, since the health benefits are really great. Fish is a lean, healthy form of protein, and packs a mean punch without all the negatives you’ll get from eating tons of meat, like cholesterol and sodium.

Plus, have you heard health buffs talk about that weird Omega-3 fatty acid? “Fatty acid” doesn’t necessarily sound like a good thing, but in fact, according to Web MD, eating lots of healthy fatty acids can cut down on your risk of heart disease, depression, asthma, and even ADHD. Plus, some research even suggests that Omega-3 may be able to protect you against certain brain diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The same goes for shellfish: The Food Network busted the myth that shellfish is too high in cholesterol and should be taken off our menus. Shellfish is actually relatively low in cholesterol (as long as you’re not drenching it in melted butter!), and also offer you tons of protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, and more good-for-you vitamins and minerals.
